
Who is Ben Finnie?
Hailing from Cheshire in England, Benjamin Finnie is a Baritone currently studying in the Royal Northern College of Music. 3rd Year Undergraduate, he enjoys all aspects of musical performance and has performed in many different contexts: From Choirs to Solo Concerts to Television. Ben is a passionate musician, always keen to learn more about the subject of music and to further his own skills within it.
Growing up around a very musical family, his musical journey began from a young age. As Ben progressed into High School, he studied with Soprano Juliet Montgomery for 7 years before joining the RNCM. Upon joining the RNCM, he started studying under Baritone Quentin Hayes. During his time at the RNCM, Ben has enjoyed being a part of the RNCM Opera Chorus, RNCM Chamber Choir, parts in the RNCM Children's Opera, representing the RNCM at the Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary for Young Singers Competition in London, and most recently, enjoying his solo operatic début role as "The Badger" in RNCM's production of Cunning Little Vixen.
Classical Vocalist
At age 13, Ben made his solo stage début with orchestra in Stoke-On-Trent's Victoria Hall as part of Carrot Productions' The Snowman concert. This solidified Ben's interest in music and helped develop his intrigue into the performance side.
Before joining the Royal Northern College of Music, Ben was a part of the Hallé Youth Choir for 3 years as a Bass, where he enjoyed multiple different projects with the organisation such as Vaughan William's A Sea Symphony in 2022 and Elgar's Dream Of Gerontius in 2023.
In September 2023, Ben enrolled into the Royal Northern College of Music on the Bachelors of Music course as part of their School of Vocal Studies and Opera.
Music Producer
Alongside his career as a Classical Vocalist, Ben also takes a deep interest in Electronic Music composition and Production. This is a subject that he has been invested in from a young age.
He has 8 years experience as an independant producer and has used such softwares as FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase and LMMS.
